William Zuckerman




   Boston based composer William Zuckerman (b. 1988) is a musician who has a divine interest in the promotion of contemporary classical music. He is grateful to the several organizations that have honored his work, including the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the New York Art Ensemble, the Music Teacher's National Association, and the New England Conservatory, among others. He has been honored with performances all over the United States, including areas such as Tanglewood, the New England Conservatory, the Walnut Hill arts high school, Texas State University, Boston University, Amherst College, the University of Massachusetts, and the Community Music Center of Boston, among other places. One of his earliest serious works, String Quartet, was performed in a concert sponosored by the Young Audiences foundation in the home of Ambassador Swanee Hunt.

         He has studied at the Tanglewood Institute, the preparatory school of NEC, the National Guitar Workshop, and the Yellow Barn Young Artist's Program, where he was one of 6 composers selected for attendance. Upcoming projects include a work for solo guitar to be performed at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, commissioned by fellow composer Matthew Cmiel of the Curtis Institute, a work for string sextet, percussion, and voice, commissioned by the New Music Project of Western Michigan University's School of Music, and a commissioned saxophone quartet. He has formally studied composition with composers Martin Amlin, Rodney Lister, Steve Coxe, and currently acclaimed MacArthur fellow Bright Sheng at the University of Michigan, where he is pursuing a degree in music composition.
